TOWhat are the hair oils, how to apply them correctly and which is better to choose – cosmetic or natural? The stylist answers these and other questions.
Who is hair oil suitable for?
Hair oil is the optimal leave-in care that is suitable for absolutely everyone with the right selection. Natural or colored hair – it doesn’t matter, everyone faces the problem of dry ends one way or another. And the oil just allows you to maintain the lipid balance of the hair.
What are hair oils?
Each oil is unique in its own way: they are different in density (thicker or thinner), suit different types of hair and perform different useful functions. Some restore colored curls, others give natural shine or make combing easier. There are even special oils for fine hair to help thicken it.
How often should you use hair oil?
This should be done after each shampooing. If you wash your hair every day, apply the oil at the same frequency. The main thing is to monitor the condition of your hair and use this product in reasonable amounts to remove frizz.
And to understand how often you need to wash your hair, this
Which oils should you use with caution?
There is a category of dry oils (there is no water in their composition), but often they are even fatter than those that are water-based. Use them carefully so as not to turn clean hair into icicles. Scalp oils are also not an option for everyone. Rather, it is a rinse-off treatment that needs to be applied before shampooing.
But pure natural oils are not at all intended for use on hair: the molecules in them are too large to penetrate inside. The hair may appear softer and shinier for the first few hours, but this is just a thin film that has no benefit. All cosmetic oils are hydrolysates, they have been specially prepared in order to penetrate into the hair.
What ingredients should not be in cosmetic hair oils?
Always follow the composition: there are many oils in the mass market that contain silicones (you will learn everything about this component
How to determine the ideal amount of oil for your hair?
Everything here is individual, and there is no one clear formula – you will have to determine the amount of oil by trial and error. It all depends on the density of the product and the structure of the hair: for example, on thin ones you need to apply very little.
How to make an oil mask correctly?
Not all oils are suitable for this – rather dense, like argan, olive or avocado oil. They must contain a large amount of unsaturated fatty acids and act as a pre-shampoo – that is, they must be washed off.
Another option is to add oil to the hair mask to make it more nourishing.
Can oil deal with split ends?
Split ends can only be dealt with by full and constant care that restores the hair structure. Oil solves only the problem of dryness, but it cannot prevent brittleness.
Sign up at the salon for a firming bonding treatment or an intensive restructuring treatment to keep your hair tighter and not split at the ends. Alas, oil will not cope with this task.
