V What film did Angelina Jolie play at the age of 6, how did Drew Barrymore get her first role at the age of 11 months and in which famous film can you see little Elijah Wood? In a special selection of BeautyHack, there are stars who appeared on TV screens as a child.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Despite the fact that Leo’s family did not live in the most prosperous areas of Los Angeles and had nothing to do with television, he appeared in front of the camera as early as 2.5 years old – his father brought him to a children’s TV show.

At the age of 14, DiCaprio firmly decided to become an actor – for some time he starred in commercials and television series, including the famous “Santa Barbara” (what other actors from the soap opera now look like, find out here). The first film debut was the role in the third part of “Critters” – Leonardo got used to the image of a bully boy and soon received new offers.

Jodie Foster

We remember her as an FBI agent from The Silence of the Lambs or the humble English teacher from Anna and the King, but in fact, Jodie’s film career began when she was 7 years old. By the way, at the age of three, the actress could already be seen on television – she was actively invited to appear in commercials and TV shows.

Having won the hearts of producers after her role in the film “Napoleon and Samantha” (in which Jody starred in 1972), the actress began acting in films without interruption, participating in several films in one year. The real fame fell on 14-year-old Jody after filming the movie “Taxi Driver”, in which she had to play a juvenile prostitute. The provocative role excited the public and almost became fatal for the actress – it took a lot of time to change her role.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale, known for his roles in American Psycho and the Batman trilogy, began his acting career in the theater, where he was noticed by film producers. The role of Tsarevich Alexei in the film “Anastasia: Anna’s Secret” was the first for Christian, but local television was not enough for him.

Just a year later, the young actor starred in a big movie – surprisingly, it was also associated with Russia. The Soviet-Swedish production of the children’s fairy tale “Mio, my Mio”, in which Bale played the role of Yum-Yum, a friend of the protagonist, attracted the attention of eminent directors. Including Steven Spielberg. His role in his drama “Empire of the Sun” brought Christian international fame.

Drew Barrymore

But the career of Steven Spielberg’s goddaughter was definitely a foregone conclusion – at the age of 11 months she had already starred in an advertisement for dog food. Despite the “relationship” with the director, Drew honestly deserved her first role – during the filming she was bitten by a dog, but instead of bursting into tears, the girl laughed and was immediately hired.

At the age of five, she starred in the science fiction film “Other Hypostases”, and a year later she played the sister of the protagonist in the cult film by Spielberg “Alien”. The success was not long in coming: in 1985 the actress was already nominated for the Golden Globe and there is no end to offers to act in films. Fame was not easy for Drew – at the age of 10 she was already a regular at Studio 54, at 15 she dropped out of school, and at 17 she posed for the cover of Playboy magazine.

Angelina Jolie

Despite the fact that at the age of 9, Jolie said – “I want to open a funeral home” – her parents insisted on an acting future. It is not surprising, because Angelina’s mother Marcheline Bertrand actively acted in films and produced films, and behind her father, John Voight, she worked in more than fifty films.

At the age of six, Jolie starred in the film “In Search of a Way Out”, in which you can see her whole family. This was followed by roles in the music videos of the Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz and Meat Loaf, and at the age of 16, the actress began to play her brother, James Haven, in an experimental movie. Be that as it may, in the official filmography, Jolie does not indicate them, considering the role of a humanoid robot named Casella Reese to be her true breakthrough.

Elijah Wood

Little Elijah was so fond of performing in public that his mother even called him “a monkey”, but by the way, the matter was not limited to a playful nickname, and at the age of three he starred in the comedy “Private Function”. You probably saw the young actor in the episode of the fantastic film “Back to the Future – 2” – Elijah played a boy at the gaming machine, appearing in the frame for just a second, but that was enough to be noticed.

By the age of 9, Elijah was already recognized as a successful child actor and even nominated for several Young Artist Awards. And the role of Aiden Quinn in the film “Avalon” and did result in an Oscar nomination and recognition as the most talented actor of his age.

Britney Spears

We fell in love with Britney for the sparkling hit Baby One More Time and perky pigtails – the star won the hearts of American fans at the age of 8. It was then that Britney was invited to appear in the TV show “The Mickey Mouse Club” on the Disney channel (by the way, there she met Ryan Gosling, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake).

When the singer was 10 years old, she took part in the professional song contest Star Search, but at the last moment the jury gave the first place to another contestant. Spears did not accept defeat and returned to Disney as if nothing had happened. Despite the fact that the show was closed a year later, Britney acquired the necessary connections for her future career, and already in 1998 she signed her first and most successful contract.

Ryan Gosling

The actor is often called the most romantic “hero” of our time, but as a child he was a bully and a bully. His parents even had to transfer him to home schooling after young Ryan, impressed by the movie “First Blood” with Stallone, brought steak knives to school and began to throw them at his classmates. Nevertheless, the craving for creativity manifested itself from an early age – Gosling imitated the actor Marlon Brando, sang at weddings and at the age of 13 got into the Mickey Mouse Club.

So the actor attracted the attention of the producers – he was invited to episodic roles in the TV series “Goosebumps” and “Afraid of the Dark”, and three years later – when Ryan was already 18 years old – he got his first leading role in the TV series “Youth of Hercules”.

Christina Ricci

You may remember Christina Ricci for her role as little Wendy Addams in the acclaimed 90s TV series, but she was not an actress’s debut. At the age of 9, she played in the movie “Mermaids” with Cher and the already quite famous Winona Ryder at that time.

The film was such a success that Christina was immediately invited to take part in the filming of “The Addams Family” – with jet black pigtails and a gothic pale face, Ricci flaunted on the screens a year later and quickly became one of the most sought-after teenage actresses. And this despite the fact that she never studied acting!

Scarlett Johansson

Named after Scarlett O’Hara from Gone With the Wind, the actress has been interested in filming since childhood. Parents tried to introduce children (Scarlett has a sister and three brothers) to acting and took them to advertising auditions, but luck smiled only on her twin brother, Adrian. By entering the acting school at the Lee Strasberg Theater University, Scarlett proved that she has every chance of making a good career.

At the age of 9, she first starred in the movie “North” with fellow artist Elijah Wood. A year later, Scarlett got her first leading role in the film “Menny and Lo”, for which she was nominated for Best Actress. But the actress has not yet won an Oscar – look for a selection of the happy owners of this cherished film award here
