Scotland Yard has announced the discontinuation of the case of the son of Elizabeth II, British Prince Andrew and the Duke of York, accused of sexualized violence. It is reported by the BBC Russian Service. The police considered the evidence to be insufficient and found no reason to continue the investigation.
“Despite pressure from the press and statements about the availability of new evidence, the London police concluded that the claims were insufficient for further investigation,” said a source from the prince’s entourage. “The Duke has always resolutely insisted on his innocence and continues to do so.”
Earlier, American Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew, accusing him of sexualized violence. According to her testimony, he had sex with her three times without her consent in 2001 – she was only seventeen years old. She also provided a photograph of them together as evidence.
