Well, hello, the most out of fashion “Banana” makeup technique. It is outdated, and everyone who uses it lives in the past – this is what the majority thinks, and it is almost impossible to convince them otherwise. But I’ll still try
Banana makeup is a pencil story.
The makeup artist can not own this technique, but it is not necessary. When there is a chance to understand how to build the correct form for the impending century and not only for it, why not use it. By understanding the principles of structure, you can cope with any shape of the eye without using a pencil.
The pencil is just a tool that can be replaced with dry textures / liquid lipstick / cream eyeshadows. Do not get hung up on a pencil and use only it in the Banana make-up technique.
But for the sake of clarity of the lesson, I used a pencil so that you can analyze each step. I used a regular kayal – PUPA Pink Muse Intense Kohl # 001 Extra Black, which is not used in the classic Banana technique.
Therefore, this lesson introduces a non-classical pencil technique, despite the fact that it was taken as a basis. I have simplified all the steps as much as possible without loading you with the subtleties and nuances of this type of makeup.
So now we are going to create a banana shape.… This means – draw the top line repeating the line of the section of the eyes without its connection to the lower eyelid with an oval arrow, which is a distinctive feature of the “loop” technique.
Preparing for makeup
- First, we need to tint the eyelid. I apply the foundation “Make up for ever Liquid Lift Foundation»In a very thin layer using Beauty blender or a synthetic brush.
- I prepare in advance two brushes for eye makeup: from synthetic bristles and natural. First, we shade the pencil, and the second we apply dry shadows. It’s that simple!
So, a step-by-step photo-lesson “How to do makeup using the banana technique”
Draw the lower eyelid with a pencil and blend with a brush. Remember that it is easier for a beginner to start with the lower eyelid in order to easily determine the guideline (see step 2).
We draw a guide to the temple using a pencil and all the same brush. This is an important stage where you must control the lift. If you underestimate this line, then the eye will visually fall, or vice versa, overestimating it, it will be unnaturally lifted up.
We build an angle from our guide. All the magic will happen on this site – shading shadows…
Do not take the pencil too high, the most intense color should remain in the crease of the eyelid. Everything above it is intended for lighter shades, with which we will create smooth transitions, that is, feathering.
We bring the upper eyelid, connecting with the outer corner. Our shape is built and now we need to duplicate it with a dry texture – eye shadow. In my case, this is the Pupa Make Up Stories Compact # 003 eyeshadow palette.
At this stage, you can choose absolutely any color. After all, a black pencil is a neutral color, on the basis of which green, blue, brown, purple colors will look. The purity of the shading depends on many factors, which I have already talked about. here.
- This technique is suitable for the overhanging eyelid, where instead of a thick eyeliner, we either draw a thin line or restrict ourselves to a dyed one. between eyelashes…
So, now you know how to do eye makeup using the banana technique. Perhaps you have reconsidered your attitude, having ceased to consider it unfashionable?
After all not trendy makeup it is not the technique that makes, but the taste and combination of shades, starting from the choice of the color of the shadows and ending with the image as a whole.
There are a bunch of examples when makeup artists use such a modern technique without bananas and loops, and the makeup still looks unfashionable. Therefore, I am for the development of taste. They will help to modernize even the most non-modern eye makeup technique.
